How Conor McGregor Used Visualization to Attract What He Wanted — And You Can Too!

Conor McGregor made history this week. In just two years, he became a world champion. Just how did McGregor go from having nothing, not even a pot to piss in, in 2013, to everything in 2015?

Intense training, of course. But also visualization.

“If you can see it here,” he said, “and have the courage enough to speak it, it will happen. If you put out what you truly believe in, it will create the law of attraction and it becomes reality.”

This is a concept I have believed in, and practiced in my own life for a long time. It’s something athletes do all the time. Now, with McGregor winning and attributed that win partly to visualization, I hope more people will realize and tap into this powerful practice to create the lives they truly want.
How do you practice visualization?

Start by asking yourself, “What do I truly want? What do I value most in all areas of my life – in my career, fun and recreation, money and finances, physical environment, personal growth, spirituality, health and wellbeing, friends, family, significant other? If I had a magic wand, what would all these areas of my life look like?”

Write down your answers. Build a vision in your mind. Align that vision with your core values and life purpose.

Write down, not only what it looks like, but also what it feels like. From that, create a vision board using images that convey what you’ve written and imagined. I recommend creating your vision board online, or on a cork board with tacks so that you can easily adjust your board as you evolve and become clearer on your vision.

Now that you have this vision of what you want to create in your life, look at your board at least once a day. Take at least 90 seconds with it to imagine that everything on your vision board is in your life right now. Again, notice not just how it looks, but how it feels and smells. Assume the energy of what you want to experience.

Visualization is powerful. It helps you move through life with intention. When you continuously visualize what you want, every cell in your body is involved in that image and you start to resonate with everything in harmony with it. This helps to line up towards you everything that’s needed to make your image your reality.

Speak, out loud, what you want to create as you assume the energy of what you want to experience. For McGregor, that means saying “I am the champion, I am the best in the world.” He is the champion, and he is saying so now, but he also assumed the energy of this before he became champion. He assumed the mindset of that role before achieving it. He behaved as the winner, walked victoriously and shined with confidence.

And the way he visualized winning is exactly the way it happened.

So what do you truly want to create in your life? Are you ready to create your vision board and assume the role and feelings as if your ideal vision is already in your life now?

As Michael Jordan said, “You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them.”
