Self-Love or Self-Torture?
This is a quote that really caught my attention: “There are a million ways to love ourselves and there are a million ways to torture ourselves. Your choice.” Michael Allenbright
When it comes to the most important person in your life (You!), what are you choosing? Love or torture?
Torture may sound extreme, but you can be torturing yourself in little ways. Even subconscious ways. Maybe you talk negatively about yourself, or don’t take care of yourself emotionally. Maybe you make decisions that don’t respect your own needs or values.
When you choose to torture yourself, not only are you hurting yourself, you can’t help anyone else either.
Think of the oxygen masks on a plane. You’re told to put your own mask on first before helping anyone else. If you don’t see to your own needs first, you’ll pass out and be no help to yourself or anyone around you.
Put your own mask on first.
Choose love.
Tell yourself you are worthy of the best life possible and worthy of your own love and care. Do something, right now, that’s just for you. Make self-love a priority. Make YOU a priority.
Choosing to care for yourself will fuel you and inspire those around you to do the same. It is a positive domino effect for you and the world.
The more you love and value yourself, the more love you can give and receive, and the better quality people you will attract, whether it be a partner, friends, colleagues or clients.
I know self-love can be hard. Especially if you have been torturing yourself for years. This is why I created the Love Yourself 5-Day Challenge to help you take steps towards truly loving yourself as you are.
I invite you to join me in the Love Yourself Challenge from February 8th to 12th. The challenge is 5 days of actionable steps towards self-love. They are small steps with huge impact.
By the end of this challenge you will increase your ability to:
-
Love yourself for who you truly are
-
Value yourself
-
Remove yourself from situations where you do not feel respected
-
Speak your truth
-
Receive more love
Ring in this Valentine’s Day loving and respecting yourself fully. When you truly love yourself you are able to build better, stronger relationships and will attract higher quality people who also love themselves. It’s like a magnet. You attract what you put out there.
