Tell me, how do you feel about 2017? Do you feel you took real steps towards what you want to create? Or do you feel you took steps back? Stayed in the same place?
I love doing year end reviews on myself to see what went well and what didn’t. It helps me get clear on what I want to create and what I need to do to make it happen, so that I can begin the new year ready to take meaningful steps towards it.
If you’re like most people (myself included), you probably have areas for improvement, or opportunities for growth you would like to tackle. A year end review helps you identify the ones that are most important to you. The key to an effective review is asking yourself specific questions and being brutally honest in your answers.
I’d like to share with you the questions I ask myself, and my responses, with the intention of inspiring you to review your own year, so that you can move closer towards becoming the CEO of your life.
The 5 questions I ask myself at year end:
Q: What were you most proud of and grateful for this year?
A: The launch of my first book, “I Attract What I Am: Transforming Failure Into An Orgasmically Joyful Life & Business”, having it become an Amazon international best seller, and the amazing feedback and reviews from readers.
Q: What lessons did you learn?
A: It’s so easy to get sidetracked by work and let it take over your life. I was having a session with a very powerful healer, Michael Allenbright, and he asked me, “If this were the last day of your life, what would you have had to accomplish in order to leave this world happy?”
It was a question I really needed to answer for myself at the time. Once you know your answer, you need to align all your thoughts and actions around it. When you do this, you will be in alignment with your purpose. You will feel inner peace. You will begin creating what you need to create. Once I had my answer, I was able to start realigning my own thoughts and actions and get clearer on the steps I needed to take.
This was a very powerful lesson for me. Thank you, Michael!
Q: What do you need to forgive yourself or others for?
A: Failing. Recently, I went on Breakfast Television and was thrown off by a question the host asked me. I stumbled for my words and did not sound professional. Luckily it was a pre-recorded segment and was not live. They asked me to re-record it. I felt I failed. I felt I had wasted their time and the staff had to stay longer to accommodate my segment. But those were my gremlins talking.
Let’s face it. We can all stumble and not be perfect. As long as we do our best and keep trying, that’s what counts.
Carrying around frustration towards yourself, in any area, spills into other areas of your life. It’s important to get rid of frustrations and resentments towards yourself and others. I recommend writing out what you need to forgive yourself for, and then burning it. Forgive yourself and move on.
Q: What are your intentions for 2018?
A: To do more motivational speaking, to launch my second book, “Why Can’t I Just Be Me?”, by the end of the year, to continuously work on becoming the best version of me, and to make a point of sleeping more. At least 7 hours per night!
Q: What word will be your 2018 theme?
This is a reminder for me to rest more, work on my inner calm, and connect with my inner peace. From that place, I feel I am connecting to my highest self and am much more zen and creative.
I hope that by sharing my year end review with you, you will be inspired to ask yourself similar questions, and to be as honest as possible in your answers.
I promise that doing this will help steer your life in the direction you choose.
