My name is Melissa Dawn and I’m an author, life and business coach and speaker. I help clients become the CEO of their Life and Business so that they can feel genuinely energized, inspired and powered-UP about who they are and what they do.
I am a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), a Professional Certified Coach (PCC), I am a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS) and have a Bachelor’s of Commerce (BComm). I’m a regular contributor to the Huffington Post and Entrepreneur. My book, I Attract What I Am – Transforming Failure Into An Orgasmically Joyful Life & Business became an Amazon international bestseller in July 2017.
I know firsthand the twists and turns of finding the right career and starting a business. Throughout my professional life I have successfully transitioned through a number of careers and industries, working my way all the way up to the VP of Marketing! Over the course of that journey, I had the opportunity to work in such roles as Management, Leadership Development, HR, Business Development and Operations in a wide range of industries like cosmetics, travel and technology. I I enjoyed each of those roles fully…for a certain period of time. But eventually, I would feel like was running on empty and totally unfulfilled. I knew something had to change. Then life really happened, and fast. In just one year I was divorced, a single mother and in a work situation that required a change of jobs ASAP.
What were my options? I was raised by European parents who had always guided me to take the “safe route”. Their experience taught them that job security meant working in larger financial corporations with great benefits. I appreciate my parents for wanting what they believed was best for me, but I felt I didn’t fit into this type of work environment or mindset. Settling for something I was unhappy with was not the example I wanted to set for my son. I wanted to encourage him to follow his passion in his life and career and not perpetuate a cycle of playing it safe and sidelining dreams. It was time for me to take a stand. It was not enough to want that life for my son. I had to show him it was possible by living it myself.
At first I worked for a small startup and I had no idea where the next paycheck would come from or even if it would come at all. I was taking a big risk – especially as a parent. But that experience allowed me to learn all aspects of running a business, which was instrumental in bringing me to where I am today… running my own successful business as an author, speaker, life and business coach, which is really my TRUE passion!
We spend so much of our lives at work. It’s vital that we use that time to do something that makes us feel excited to get started each day, leaves us feeling blissful at the end of it, and is aligned with our values and life purpose.
I earned numerous awards for high achievement in marketing and sales, but I was always left aching to make a bigger difference. I wasn’t satisfied with just “creating successful products, marketing campaigns and surpassing sales objectives”. I wanted to be of greater service to others – to help people realize that they are the CEO of their life, and that they really can design their future any way they want!
I have an exceptional ability to connect, to communicate and to bring out the best in people at all levels, and I feel blessed to have received so much positive feedback from coaching clients. I can’t tell you how amazing it feels to be appreciated and acknowledged for living my passion!
I have moved beyond simply having a positive attitude to a more fulfilling, heart-centered life. I am also passionate about hiking, biking, spending time in nature, yoga (especially the downward dog pose to energize me throughout the day), meditation, discovering new cultures and pretty much any activity that can be done outdoors in warm weather.
I continue to take the steps required to create a life and business that I feel so excited to wake up to every morning! My mission is to help as many people as possible find the same joy and fulfillment in their own lives.
